My first Meeting with Todd in the San Paulo Temple

2006 September

When I arrived as an employee for the Church in São Paulo I was told to find Sister Margy Andersen as soon as possible. My wife and I went to the temple and a fellow was officiating and did not seem to know when to do anything and struggled at each step. I tried to prompt him but the more I helped the worse it got, by the end of the session it was obvious he did not understand Portuguese. After the session he found me and introduced himself as Todd Andersen, I then realized he was the spouse to Margy and he told me it was his first time officiating in the São Paulo Temple and no one asked him if he could speak or understand the language but he told me he wanted to be obedient and went forward. From that day on I knew there were no excuses for not speaking up and doing the work as I was assigned. Todd was delightful. The four of us ate lunch that day in the temple cafeteria and that began a rewarding relationship. We worked in the CTM and traveled a little bit together. A wonderful couple that made an impact on the work here in Brazil. Thank you and may the Lord bless you always. Paul and Danette Garrett.
